January 2002 Newsletter

General Membership Meeting Tuesday, January 8th, 2002, 7:30pm.

From the President...
Well here it is, my first Jaycee President newsletter article. Most of you already know me, but if you don't I'll give you a brief introduction.

My name is Marcia Harmon and I am an RN at Community Medical Center here in Falls City. I have been a Jaycee for about 9 years now and have held every position on the board (except director) at least once in those nine years. I am married to Leland Harmon and we have a daughter, Samantha. Enough about me. Let's get on to the business at hand.

Enclosed, you will find a copy of the Member Survey forms. Please take a minute to fill this out and return it to me. There is a similar one that has gone out to general community members also. When I get these back (and I hope to get a few back) I will be looking them over to see what interests the chapter as a whole. I'll be looking for ideas on new projects and to see if there are a few that we need to consider dropping. The surveys only take a few minutes to fill out. If you return one to me before the meeting, I'll have your beverage of choice for you at the meeting. If you return it to at the meeting, you'll get something (maybe candy or pop or beer, who knows). But I really do need your input as to what this chapter wants from your leaders this year and in the future.

Plans have been made to hold a Board Retreat to make plans for the upcoming year. Right now, we are planning on meeting January 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Breadeaux. If you are on the board or would like to be on the board, please plan on attending. If you cannot be there, let me know. If plans change, I'll let you know.

LOTS (Local Officers Training School) will be held in Kearney the weekend of our Passing of the Gavel banquet. January 4, 5, and 6 are the dates. If you would really like to go, let me know. Otherwise, we'll try to hit the regional LOTS later on (if they get one scheduled).

I think that might be it for the first Presidential letter. I haven't chosen a theme to work with yet, but I plan on it. If you would like to try out one of the open offices, talk to Brian Young or myself. We'll make sure you have support. Remember, the only one who fails, is the one who didn't try!

In Jaycees,
Marcia Harmon
