| From the President...
Spring has finally sprung. But how is everyone handling the already summer like temperatures. I think this is probably the earliest I've ever had to turn on the AC. OK, enough blathering, lets get on to business.
As per request at the last meeting, I will be condensing the two sections of the newsletter that I am responsible for in to one. (And I'll even highlight the topics for you Jennifer and Becky!)
As you are well aware, there are still open offices on the board and with the year almost half gone, your job would be really easy now.
Ideas and plans are coming together for the Tractor Pull and Demo Derby this summer. The Tractor Pull is scheduled for July 27 and Steve Deckinger is heading things up. The membership decided instead of having one person chair the Demolition Derby, that a committee will be formed to take care of certain parts. If you have a favorite job you would like to do, let Dennis Chandler or I know and we will tell you who you need to talk to. Jennifer W. will be calling for gate help; Dennis will be lining up judges, check-in personnel, etc., Brian Y. will be emceeing again this year, and I think (although I never heard a definite yes) that the Huppert/Brewer crew will be in charge of the concessions. Again, if you have a specific job you like to do, see or talk to one of these people. That time will soon be here that we're going to need all the help we can get.
First Triad Convention is coming up May 31-June 2 in Lincoln. I have registration forms and we already have two rooms booked for those of you who would like to go. Registration needs to be postmarked by May 16 for early registration. At this time I only know of Dennis and Teresa Chandler and myself that are planning on going for sure. Please let me know by the night of the meeting or the next day if you are interested so we can get the registrations sent in. It's nearly five years since I went to convention and I'm pretty excited about it. This will be the 75th Anniversary of the State Jaycee organization so I would really like to have a nice representation there. If you can't go for the whole thing, let me know, we can pay for just the business meeting or just the banquet.
KaBoomers contract for our fireworks sales has been signed. Brian Young has been in contact with them in regards to our set up. Sales for fireworks will begin around the 25th of June so that will be here real soon too.
Well, I think that about does it for this submission. Hope to see you all at the meeting. Remember if you attend, you will have a chance at winning the Attendance Incentive that is $40 this month. Poor Beth could have been $35 richer if she would have been at the last meeting. Oh well, easy come, easy go!
In Jaycees,
Marcia Harmon
