| From the President...
Hello everyone. The summer is finally here and the Jaycee schedule is heating up just like the temperature. Is everyone ready to help for at least an hour or two? You'll have your choice of several projects to choose from, so please help when you're contacted.
On to a "new thought" for this year. As you all know, our numbers are down and we need some "new blood" to re-energize the chapter. We all know two or three people who should be Jaycees. They probably know it as well. Our membership fees are down to just $25 new or renewal. Some of us have money "banked away" from Red Wheel sales to help defray even some of that cost (or even pay for a friends dues). Also as many of you know, our region director has a challenge out to encourage us to sign new members. We could really use the extra help from "The Dominator" at one or two of our upcoming projects so think hard about asking your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join one of the "BEST" organizations around for young adults. We work hard, but we also play hard after the work is done.
Now for a bit of congratulations. If you were not at the last meeting you missed the membership pot actually being won. Brian Young won $45 just for coming to a meeting. That puts the drawing back to the $20 base.
All you have to do is attend the membership meetings and sign in, and your name goes into the drawing. If your name is drawn out and you are present, you win the pot. If you are so unlucky as to not be present, your name will go back into the drawing and the chapter adds $5 to the pot for the next GMM. This keeps going until someone is in attendance at the meeting when his or her name is drawn out. Everyone on the membership list is in once. The more meetings you come to, the more times your name goes into the drawing. Simple. But if you don't attend, you don't have a chance to win. Just ask some of our past "losers" like Brian Bindle and Beth Herring-Hill.
Also, take a minute to look over the list of award winners from the First Triad Convention held May 31-June 2. Dennis and Teresa Chandler, Krista Andersen and myself attended and had a great time. We brought home several District, Region, and State level awards. Thanks to everyone so far for your hard work. I appreciate everyone's assistance. I hope you had fun helping out.
Hope to see you all at the July GMM. Remember you're not the only one who's busy, so when you get called to help out with one of the upcoming projects, please give a little of your time. Without everyone giving just a little, nothing can get accomplished.
One last thing away from our chapter. Word has been received that the Nebraska State Jaycee President has been diagnosed with a very serious illness. Our thoughts and Prayers are with you Russ.
In Jaycees,
Marcia Harmon
